A low carb diet is one of those things that seem to work pretty well for a limited time. They also work well for people who are extremely inactive.
…but if you are an athlete or simply someone who trains in a gym to stay in shape, beware!
The main problem?
Eliminating carbs messes with hormone levels…especially, Testosterone.
Remember this famous movie scene?
Of course you do…
“You never close your eyes any more when I kiss your lips
And there’s no tenderness like before in your fingertips
You’re tryin’ hard not to show it…baby
But baby…baby I know it!
You’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’
Whoa that lovin’ feelin’
You’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’,
Now its gone, gone, gone whoaohoh”
Top Gun! It’s super corny (but you know you love it).
Lack of carbs will mess with “your loving feeling” in a big way!
By loving feeling, I’m talking about a few things…
- Low testosterone.
- Lack of sex drive.
- Lack of “lead in your pencil” (unless you don’t have a pencil).
- Spike in cortisol (if you are active).
- Increase in moody behavior.
…and instead of watching a kick-ass move like Top Gun?
You will be wanting to watch Beaches.
So you rent it on Netflix.
…and you will be signing along to “Wind Beneath My Wings”.
“Did you ever know that you’re my hero?
And everything I would like to be
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings.”
Tears will be flowing down your face.
Things will get out of hand.
All because you decided to go low carb!
Okay, so maybe that is a slight exaggeration.
…but there is no reason to go low carb.
Do you believe you can’t get lean while eating carbs?
